Spreading SMILES on AJK's mountains - Day 1

Mesmerizing mountains, fast flowing Rivers, streams and beautiful fruit trees, all together make Kashmir a natural wonderland. But despite all this magnificence, the people of Kashmir are deprived of a lot of blessings and rights that they deserve. As the unemployment rate is very high in AJK, therefore, the underprivileged class can’t afford to send their children to school. However, with the passion to serve humanity, HOPE- an NGO in Pakistan reaches out to all those who no one reaches out to and has established several schools on different mountains of Kashmir. These schools are giving free and quality education to the poor children who cannot even afford to have a sweater or a single pair of socks to prevent themselves from cold even in extreme weather.

HOPE’s team visits and monitors the working of these schools every year. The visits include distribution of various gift items such as schoolbags, lunch boxes, stationery items, sweaters, caps, and food items etc which encourage the children to be regular and make them feel loved. The team under the leadership of Dr Mubina Agboatwalla- child specialist in Karachi interacts with the students and teachers to learn more about them.

On day one, the team visited the schools located in Ghari duppta, Malsi and Dhanibaklan where currently 280 students are enrolled, altogether.

The students did a very well performed welcome function for HOPE's team. After the function, the children were shown the demonstration of how to use P&G purifier water sachets. Cooler, buckets, P&G purifier water sachets were distributed to ensure the provision of clean drinking water among the community. Moreover, pants, sweaters, pencil box, lunch boxes ( juices, cake, samosa, pakorey), Gift pack for teachers (warm shawl, safe guard soap, ariel surf ) were also distributed.

HOPE- an educational NGO in Pakistan
is proud to be spreading hope and education even on the top of mountains where no other NGO or government organization is working to help the people in need!
