HOPE's Health Services Continue to Serve the Poor

Food-poisoning occurs when an individual consumes poor-quality food. And this is quite unfortunate that in Pakistan, a large number of food-chains and office cafeterias use substandard raw materials and harmful food colors etc. The unhygienic conditions of kitchens also add to the poor quality of food which often results in upset stomach, diarrhea and food poisoning among the consumers of such food.

Same happened with the 48 workers of a food factory, located in industrial area of Karachi, who had daal in lunch from their office's canteen. All of them were admitted to HOPE Hospital at Zia Colony due to food poisoning. Most of the patients had similar complaints of abdominal cramps and vomiting. They were unconscious and dehydrated. Hence, the treatment was given according to each patient's severity including IV drips and injections. All of the patients were recovered within 2 to 6 hours due to the efficiency of staff and timely treatment.

HOPE Hospital's staff is well-trained and skilled to manage and treat emergency cases. Almost all kind of patients from poor families come there for treatment and are satisfied with the treatment they receive. HOPE - a health NGO in Pakistan, under the leadership of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla - child specialist in Karachi, provides access to emergency and other affordable medical facilities to impecunious masses through secondary care hospitals to improve their health. These hospitals are fully equipped centers that provide 24 hour emergency, outpatient care, inpatient care, fully equipped operation theaters, delivery and neonatal care services.

In Karachi, HOPE- an NGO in Pakistan has established secondary care hospitals that have been set up in Korangi and Gurumandir. These are fully equipped 50 bedded hospitals that helped in treating 63,000 patients, delivered 780 children, carried out 420 surgeries and treated 360 newborns in the neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
