Annual Function at HOPE Zia School

Pakistan is among the most densely populated countries and with one of the lowest literacy rates in the world. Even though many schools and colleges are pursuing the education sector, especially in various big cities of Pakistan, those living in rural areas are lacking such facilities.
HOPE, an educational NGO in Pakistan, strives to eradicate illiteracy in Pakistan. HOPE diligently tries to provide education to all, especially the underprivileged masses. Thus most of HOPE’s programs are focused primarily on the rural and urban slum areas of Pakistan. HOPE extensively works to provide quality education, free of cost to the underprivileged. Under the leadership of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla- child specialist in Karachi, HOPE has broaden its reach towards the masses lining in squalor, mainly focusing on girls to address the deplorable educational and social status of women in many cities of Pakistan.
Among other HOPE educational projects, one of its school located in Zia colony, Karachi, funded by Japanese embassy. The residents living in this area belong to poor backgrounds and cannot afford to send their children to schools. Furthermore the educational institutes in the area are either few or extremely expensive for the residents to afford. Previously most of the children had been victims of child labor and had worked to support their families. But with the establishment of HOPE Zia School, the students are now given quality education free of cost with provisions such as stationary, lunch boxes, books and copies for their feasibility.
Currently 800 students are enrolled in the HOPE Zia School, who constantly proves their potential by their outstanding academic performances throughout the year and also secure brilliant results in their board examinations. HOPE arranges annual functions to celebrate their success which encourage them to increase their potentials.
Different programs were held in which students presented skitswhich revolved around the importance of education. In addition, the students presented to the audience with many dance performances on educational themes and patriotic songs. It is worthy to mention that this annual function was attended by the Japanese consulate following to their annual hospital visit.

The Japanese consulate were welcomed by the Zia school students. Along with the skits and dance performances, the Japanese consulate, Youko Watanabay, Saad Amanullah- Helper of HOPE and chief guest Mr. Amjad from rotary center distributed prizes to students who excelled in their studies and extra-curricular activities, in the presence of of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla- child specialist in Karachi. The students from Thatta School also participated in this function to celebrate the successof the students.

Therefore, such events provide a platform for students from such impoverished backgrouds to show their talents but if given more opportunities can reach the sky. This event also acknowledge the students as well as teachers’ achievements and motivate individuals for better performance in future accomplishments.
