Health Education Session for HOPE School Students

Health education builds students' knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes about health. It motivates students to improve and maintain their health, prevent disease, and reduce risky behaviors. The middle years of childhood are extremely sensitive times for a number of health issues, especially when it comes to adopting health behavior that can have lifelong consequences. Moreover, children are key to educate society because children take that education to their home spreading among their family members and people surrounding them.
HOPE- an NGO in Pakistan envision a well educated, health society where women and children have equal rights. Therefore, HOPE- a health NGO in Pakistan, in collaboration with TARGET USA- one of the HOPE’s donor arranges activities to spread awareness among children to build a health society under the supervision of Dr. Mubina Agbotatwalla- child specialist in Karachi.
Members from TARGET USA organize a event where the invited students from HOPE Zia school for delivering health awareness session in which personal hygiene and healthy habits were discuss. Keeping in mind the background of children and considering their surrounding where unhygienic practices make them vulnerable to infectious disease in addition to low health facilities. Students were encourage to share their ideas of health hygiene and active participation of students was observed. Content was delivered by keeping in mind the age and mindset of students. Therefore, cartoon and clip art illustration were used to ensure better understanding.

Students were strained upon adopting healthy habits which include hand washing, early to bed and early to rise routine, playing safe games, and improving eating habits. Activities were arranged which enforced students to choose healthy and safe habits for themselves and which make them realize the consequences of bad habits on their health.

At last, goodie bags which include hygiene kit and healthy food items were distributed among children to ensure sustainability of the session and to promote safe and healthy habits.

HOPE- a educational NGO in Pakistan has always promoted and appreciated such efforts. HOPE also ensure that it’s students and people surrounding them live a healthy and better lifestyle.
