April 2023, for all the children and students of all the HOPE schools and vocational centers located in
Karachi and interior Sindh. The event did not just comprise of a fancy iftar dinner; it was an extension of care shown by Standard Chartered Bank and HOPE - An NGO in Pakistan towards the underprivileged
children.
The Iftar venue was located in Korangi at P&T Ground, which was well decorated with a tent, flooring,
lighting etc., ready to welcome the students coming from various HOPE schools, (formal and informal
both included), and vocational centers located in Bilal Colony, Zia Colony Bhitaiabad, Sachal Goth, Bhens Colony, Rerhi Goth, and Ghaggar. There were about 1100 students from these schools and vocational centers who attended the event, accompanied by the faculty members, while HOPE staff were approximately 100 members. 200 employees of Standard Chartered Bank volunteered as helpers in the distribution of food among the students. They were seated in long rows. Pedestal fans were placed after every few meters keeping in view the heat drenching season so that the students and guests feel comfortable.
After iftari and prayers the Chairperson of HOPE – An Educational NGO in Pakistan, distributed Eid
clothes and ration among the children, who were very delighted to receive these gifts. The happiness
could be seen on their faces after receiving the Eid clothes which they were unable to afford. The event
concluded with a dinner which comprised of delicious chicken biryani. Then the children lined up again
to board their respective buses to go back to their respective schools and onwards to their homes.
