Education is an essential for improving the lives of the community. However, in mountainous regions providing education is a challenge. The houses are located in remote areas in the mountains. Children have to travel hours to reach a school located in the towns. These are the very children who need education the most.
Dr. Mubina
Agboatwalla – Child Specialist in Karachi realized that to educate the poor
communities in the mountains small schools need to be opened in various remote
areas.
Thus, under her leadership HOPE-
an education NGO In Pakistan started the system of education through home
schools in various parts of Azad Jammu Kashmir.
Presently, nearly 1800 children are studying in the schools
in Kashmir. Most of the schools are located in remote areas nearly two hours
away from the city centre.
The schools are located in Hattian, Garhi Dupatta, Malsee,
Dhani Bakala andmany other places. Text books are provided free of cost. Qualified
teachers are appointed in the schools. A high level of education is maintained.
