HOPE MOTHER & CHILD HEALTH CENTERS; A POSITIVE OUTCOME TOWARDS AN UNFORTUNATE SITUATION

At HOPE - A Health NGO in Pakistan we priorities maternal health because of the impacts it has on the generations to come. Quality maternal health care not only provides her wellbeing, but it makes a difference to guarantee the great wellbeing of her infant child and the rest of her family.

HOPE - An NGO in Pakistan has established Maternal and Child Health Centers MCH in Manzoor Colony, Mujahid Colony, Bilal Colony, 100 Quarter, and Langerpura (AJK) where antenatal care is provided to mothers. Normal deliveries are conducted at MCH Centre. Chest infections, diarrhea, skin allergies, are the common diseases treated at these centers. Free of cost medical consultation and medicines are provided to the needy patients. Ultrasound is also done here by a professional gynecologist. Annually 84,967 patients are seen at these centers.

These MCH Centers is mainly visited by mothers and their children, services like ultra sound, antenatal checkup is provided. The purpose of these MCH centers is to provide the needed maternal and child health services. To provide antenatal and obstetric care to expectant mothers. The most important thing is saving mothers and newborn lives. Many mothers who are expecting come to these clinics who literally do not find any support during pregnancy; because they depend on traditional birth attendants for home deliveries without ultrasound facilities, which result in difficulties during complicated delivery cases, due to which they are they rushed to hospitals.

The main reason for the establishment of these MCH Centers in various areas, is the population ratio, who do not have access to medical facilities at a reasonable price in this area. Hence HOPE is the first to establish MCH Centers which was highly needed by the people of these area.

Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla – A ChildSpecialist in Karachi, who is also the founder and Chairperson of HOPE; collaborates with other local as well as International organizations through which they can back us in our cause in giving wellbeing, care facilities and services to the underprivileged communities all through Pakistan, by setting up medical centers, Mobile Health Units, Mother & Child Healthcare Clinics, where patients are treated at a minimal or free of cost.

Education in the mountains

Education is an essential for improving the lives of the community. However, in mountainous regions providing education is a challenge. The houses are located in remote areas in the mountains. Children have to travel hours to reach a school located in the towns. These are the very children who need education the most.

Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla – Child Specialist in Karachi realized that to educate the poor communities in the mountains small schools need to be opened in various remote areas.

Thus, under her leadership HOPE- an education NGO In Pakistan started the system of education through home schools in various parts of Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Presently, nearly 1800 children are studying in the schools in Kashmir. Most of the schools are located in remote areas nearly two hours away from the city centre.

The schools are located in Hattian, Garhi Dupatta, Malsee, Dhani Bakala andmany other places. Text books are provided free of cost. Qualified teachers are appointed in the schools. A high level of education is maintained.

HOPE STARTS ITS RAMZAN CAMPAIGN

Ramadan is an Islamic holy month that takes place during the 9th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. During this month muslims refrain from various forms of food/water intake during daylight hours throughout this holy month. People spend their time praying, reflecting and try their best to provide maximum good deeds as possible. Many who are privileged enough make sure they give zakat and do charity in other forms, to help the poor and needy who do not get food/ration on regular basis.

We must not forget that along with fasting and abstaining from bad deeds, helping the poor and needy is an essential act which gives very high rewards during the holy month of Ramadan. Hence this is where HOPE A Health NGO in Pakistan, comes as a redeemer to help out the ones who have no one and are neglected in the society.

Provision of Clean Drinking Water in the Mountains

Water is essential for life. But water has to be pure, clean and potable. In the mountain’s spring water is clean but as a result of land slides or river and rain water gets mixed with mud.

In addition, over a period of time due to tourism and increasing population around the river beds water gets contaminated and dirty contaminated water leads to infections like diarrhea and typhoid.

To combat this problem household treatment of water using P&G Purifier of water was introduced to the residents of Langar Pura in Kashmir by HOPE NGO in Pakistan.  A demonstration was held for 100 village women and men.

They were given a demonstration on how to clean dirty, muddy contaminated water using P&G Purifier of water. One packet of the Purifier cleaning around 10 litres of water, which is enough for a family for at least 12 hours.

The women showed keen interest in the demonstration and hands on training of the women was done in which the mothers of young children personally took a very interest.

Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla-child Specialist in Karachi herself explained the procedure to the women.

The families were provided with water coolers, buckets, cloth and ladle. In addition, each family was provided 120 packets of Purifier, so that a supply of clean drinking water was ensured for 4 months. HOPE- Health NGO in Pakistan strives to provide preventive health services at all levels.
