HOPE USA DISTRIBUTES HAND SANITIZERS IN THE MASJIDS AND COMMUNITY

HOPE a Health NGO in Pakistan has always been active in emergency situations in which the need for rescue arises the most. In the past HOPE responded to emergencies by launching a hugerelief operation that covered medical aid, relief distribution, provision of safe drinking water, nutrition support and reconstruction of houses.

Since the rise of coronavirus cases globally. Many retail stores and pharmacies sell hand sanitizers. However, we understand that many retail stores have run out of hand sanitizers and they may be difficult to find as there is a very high demand for it, since hand sanitizers have become the need of the hour due to the most unpredictable Covid-19 pandemic which has a global impact.  To help increase the availability of hand sanitizers HOPE USA has recently distributed sanitizers in the Masjids and in thecommunity in order to facilitate as many individuals as they can during this pandemic.

Hand sanitizer destroys viruses that are similar to the novel coronavirus, so experts believe it will work against the novel coronavirus, too.Hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol works best.

FDA recommends that consumers do not make their own hand sanitizer. If made incorrectly, hand sanitizer can be ineffective, and there have been reports of skin burns from homemade hand sanitizer. The agency lacks verifiable information on the methods being used to prepare hand sanitizer at home and whether they are safe for use on human skin. This is where HOPE -  An NGO in Pakistan considered the significance of the situation and distributed Hand sanitizers to the people so that they could minimize the spread of the deadly virus.

Studies have found that hand washing with soap is more effective than hand sanitizers. But alcohol-based hand sanitizers (with at least 60% alcohol) are a practical alternative when soap and water aren’t available. If you are using hand sanitizer then, just like when washing with soap and water, you need to make sure you cover your hands (including between your knuckles, wrists, palms, back of your hand and your fingernails) fully, rubbing it in for at least 20 seconds so it’s truly effective.

HOPE’s chairperson, Dr MubinaAgboatwalla –A Child Specialist in Karachi, has always been the guiding force in organizing and implementing such relief activities with great success. HOPE team, personally participated in the relief efforts by distributing the hand sanitizers to the people.
