The corona virus pandemic and subsequent lockdown is an unprecedented situation in modern times. It is hard to gauge the full impact that the situation is having on children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing.
Student’s experiences of the lockdown period will have been very varied. For some, it will mostly have been a safe and enjoyable time. For others, it will have been challenging or traumatic. Schools and teachers of HOPE an NGO in Pakistan are used to supporting their students through challenges that they face in life.
Schools all across the world are starting to reopen, as countries lift their lockdowns. Various measures have been put in place, from social distancing to staggered school times.
The number of active cases in
Pakistan has diminished to a vast extent, but this does not mean
Covid-19 has eradicated from its core. There are still a certain percentage of
active cases and it is necessary to take serious precautions in order to avoid
further spreading of corona virus cases from person to person. However due to the strict lockdown within the country since
April 2020 till August 2020 it has brought some control in spreading of corona cases.
Six months after Covid-19-related lockdown, the Government announced reopening of all public and private educational institutions with certain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
HOPE - An Educational NGO in Pakistan has also resumed its formal as well as informal schools as per the instructions of the Government and has implemented a very strict procedure on the implementation of certain Standard Operating Procedures in order to avoid the spreading of the corona virus disease.
HOPE schools in the areas of Karachi, rural Sindh, Muzaffargarh, Thatta, Muzaffarabad etc have all resumed their procedures. The Temperature of student’s s and teachers will be checked on the entrance those with high fever will not be allowed to trespass, all furniture’s and surfaces will be disinfected on a regular basis. The use of masks and gloves on campus is mandatory. Hand washing and sanitizing has been implemented as a compulsory practice, in order to avoid the spread of the disease.
