HOPE Continues to brace Pakistan-Japan Liaison

HOPE – an NGO in Pakistan has always been striving for the betterment of society. From education and health to research projects, HOPE is always up to something that can contribute in the wellbeing of society. However, there are many entities that have been helping HOPE with its mission. One of them is Government of Japan which had funded HOPE to establish a Formal School in Karachi and later for the expansion of school.

Recently, a consultant on child protection from Japan, Michiko Ono, visited Pakistan for her research on migrants. Since HOPE – a Health NGO in Pakistan, is in liaison with the Embassy of Japan, Team HOPE, on the instructions of Dr Mubina Agboatwalla – a child specialist in Karachi and chairperson of HOPE, accompanied Ms Michiko to the areas she wanted to visit for her study.

She visited Sohrab Goth and Bengali Para. The residents of Sohrab Goth are mainly Afghani migrants, whereas, Bengali para has Bengali migrants. She did in-depth interviews of the families residing in these areas with the help of Team HOPE.

HOPE is always willing to help people who come to Pakistan for their research to leave a positive impact on them about Pakistani people. HOPE believes in building good ties with everyone in order to build a strong society and the visionary behind all this is Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, a child specialist in Karachi.

Iftar at Thatta School

Thatta, with its destiny quivered and with its faith solaced has had its fair share of bad draughts. However, there’s always a silver lining in a dark cloud. In Thatta’s case, that silver lining is HOPE – an NGO in Pakistan.  HOPE has been a token of selflessness since its inception. A school along with a hospital, being one of their kinds has been set up in Thatta. Thatta always, being under-privileged and idyllic in nature is now on the route to advancement because of the noble work done by HOPE and its donors.

While arranging Iftar dinners for various HOPE schools, the school in Thatta was not forgotten and an Iftar party was also arranged there. The evening was filled with ecstasy. An approximate of 270 people were present, which included a hefty number of children and women. These people were none other than the beneficiaries of the magnanimity of HOPE.

The Iftar party was organised under the surveillance of Dr Mubina Agboatwalla - a Karachi child specialist and chairperson of HOPE - an NGO in Pakistan.

At the stroke of the Maghreb Azaan, as the children, who are enrolled in Thatta Formal School, started their iftar in an enchanted manner, the joy on the faces of the HOPE helpers was priceless. What for most of us is a routine iftar, turned out to be a festival for them. The delight on the faces of those children proved that they are extremely happy with Iftar arranged by HOPE. The iftar dinner was followed by distribution of Eid clothes which further increased their happiness and excitement. The children were really eager to receive the Eid clothes as they belong to the families who can hardly afford new clothes for any occasion. Eventually, the evening had to come to an end and finally it did. But what came out of it, “their happiness” which was priceless. What were before iftar, scrawny faces with eyes sucked deep into their sockets, were now faces filled with ecstasy and complacency.  And all of this has to be credited to HOPE and its donors. It was that moment that no matter how life treats you, no matter how many times people let you down, there will always be someone like HOPE to help you back up.

Hope’s Iftar At Muzaffargarh:

Like every year, HOPE, a Health NGO in Pakistan, arranged Iftar dinners throughout the month of Ramadan for the underprivileged children studying at HOPE Schools. One of the iftar parties was arranged in HOPE Formal School, Muzaffargarh. Around 400 students attended this iftar party. The children seemed really excited and happy to be served iftar. They really enjoyed the whole event. The menu was a very enjoyable one consisting of the delicacies suited for the occasion: samosas, pakoras, kababs etc of different varieties. It was fun time for all and the chatter was non-stop – the jokes were abundant and a full belly made things even more joyful. The iftari was followed by Eid clothes distribution which brought smiles on the innocent faces of children.

As always particular attention was given by Dr Mubina Agboatwalla, child specialist in Karachi and chairperson of HOPE – an NGO in Pakistan, in the selection and preparation of the iftar items and also the Eid clothing. Everything was closely monitored by her to ensure that everything goes smooth and very good quality items were given to the children.

One could clearly see the fulfillment in the eyes of children. Even not wanting to, the evening had to come to an end and eventually it did. But what it left was the sense of complacency for the HOPE workers, and a dream for a better tomorrow for the less-privileged children. The children returned to their homes with a big smile on their faces and hands full of Eid gifts which definitely made their Eid cherishable.

Ration Distribution

A large size of population in Pakistan is deprived of the basic necessities of life. However, there is a silver lining on the darkening sky in the form of NGO’s like HOPE. HOPE – an NGO in Pakistan has been doing philanthropic activities since the beginning of Ramadan so that even the less privileged ones can enjoy the festivities of Ramadan and Eid.

Along with Eid clothes, iftar and briyani boxes distribution, HOPE team has also been distributing ration to the needy families. So far, the team has distributed 1200 ration bags in urban slums as well as outskirts of Karachi among its students studying in HOPE Formal and Home Schools as well as patients in Sindh Government Hospital and HOPE Hospitals.

Around 125 ration bags were distributed among the patients’ families in Sindh Government Hospital, more than 75 ration bags were distributed among the poor and needy students in Bhattaiyabad schools, more than 50 ration bags were distributed among the poor and needy students in Sachal School, around 50 bags were distributed among the needy students and patients in 2 home schools and MNCH Center in Mujahid Colony, 45 ration bags were distributed among the poor and needy students in Bilal colony, more than 250 ration bags were distributed among the needy students and patients in Zia Colony’s Formal School and Hospital.

Communities residing in far flung areas across Karachi are indeed very poor. Hence, during Ramadan, HOPE, a health NGO in Pakistan, does not forget them and provides help to them as well in the form of food, Eid clothes and ration distribution. These areas include, ghaggar, bhens colony, link road and dhabeji etc. More than 285 ration bags were distributed among the needy families residing there.

The team will continue to distribute ration till the end of Ramadan. The children and patients are delighted to receive the ration as they belong to the low-income class who cannot even afford to buy basic grocery and enjoy their Ramadan and Eid. Seeing the innocent smiles on the faces of the children is extremely gratifying and it affirms our belief that all the efforts, the hassle, the obstacles are worth going through just to see a smile on the faces of these children who can’t afford to enjoy the festivity of Ramadan and Eid to its fullest. These activities are carried out under the supervision of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla - a child specialist in Karachi who is the person behind HOPE – an NGO in Pakistan.
