Food distribution by HOPE for the Abbas Town bomb blast victims

Soon after the catastrophic bomb blast that destroyed Abbas Town and its suburbs, HOPE employees and volunteers quickly mobilized their resources to help the victims of the bomb blast. Our main focus was to distribute cooked food and juices to those who were severely affected by the blast. Our team began distributing lunch packs by visiting the victims still living in their shattered apartments. There were many people who had shifted to other places as their apartments were completely destroyed.
The main problem people in Abbas town are facing at the moment is that they need dry rations such as dry milk, baby formula and bread as well as water and cooked food as they do not have access to electricity, water and gas. People are still in a state of shock and want other people to help them in any way possible. Their mental state can be gauged by the fact that one man came up to us while we were distributing lunch packs and exclaimed “What is HOPE? We have lost all hope as there are no people who are there to help us out.”

Secondly, another problem we (HOPE workers) faced was that there was a distinct lack of organization in the aid distribution operations. We feel that a lot more can be done for the affectees if there is a proper channel for distribution of aid.
