CHILD DELIVERY AT HOPE MCH CENTER LANGARPURA, AZAD KASHMIR.

This weekend we achieved a new milestone in our fight to reduce Maternal and Infant Mortality in Pakistan - the first delivery of a baby from our Maternal and Child Health Center network took place at our MCHC in Langarpura, Azad Kashmir. In these remote regions, the terrain is mountainous and difficult to commute by car and healthcare facilities are few and far between.  Even if such facilities do exist, they are often not well-equipped and the less fortunate simply cannot afford them.  It is a standard practice that poor mothers labor and deliver their children in their own homes.

Unfortunately, the lack of accessible healthcare facilities for poor communities has led to adversely high Maternal and Infant Mortality rates in Pakistan, especially in cases where there are labor complications or medical intervention is needed.  In Pakistan, 33% of maternal deaths and 80% of infant deaths are preventable!

HOPE – A Health NGO in Pakistan has been working diligently to provide free/nominal cost quality prenatal and infant care to underserved communities. In urban slum areas of Karachi, we operate four Hospitals in which a total of 15,000 children are born safely each year.

While in the Northern Areas of Pakistan, HOPE under the leadership of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla – A Child Specialist in Karachi, has gone a step further, by establishing 3 new MCH Centers in the regions of Langarpura, Garhi Habibullah and Mansehra with birthing provisions, essentially making them a mini-hospitals.  This measure is a proactive step to ensure safe deliveries for both mothers and children in those communities.

HOPE – An NGO in Pakistan is grateful to our all our generous supporters who have made regular contributions towards the construction of these facilities along with ensuring their smooth operations.

STORY OF MARANGE WHO FOUGHT POLIO THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF HOPE

This is the success story of Marange, who belongs to Karachi.  Marange faced a tough childhood as she was a poli patient for many many years, she could not stand or walk, due to no parents to support them, her two brothers had no one to guide them on the right path and thus they became drug addicts.

Misbah was a student of HOPE High school Zia Colony, where she got all the support, she needed be it medically, financially as well as in education. She went through multiple sessions of physiotherapy at the Polio Clinic in Civil Hospital, Karachi.  For nearly 7-8 years her education and medical requirements were sponsored by HOPE – An Educational NGO in Pakistan.

Marange has always had the interest in studies, she was a smart student, and used to get good grades, hence seeing her interest in studies, HOPE completely waved off the tuition fees throughout her schooling. The other educational supplies related costs were also sponsored by HOPE – An NGO in Pakistan.

Misbah passed her matric from HOPE Zia School. After which she studied further with full interest in the field of Medical. She is now a phlebotomist at Fatimid Blood Transfusion Center, Karachi. She personally believes the stage she is at right now it is because of the support of HOPE. She now is the sole supporter of her family and also has admitted her drug addict brothers in a rehabilitation center.

Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla - A Child Specialist in Karachi, supports and encourages the education of such children who have high ambitions but cannot afford school fees. Such students can be made capable enough of getting a respectable job and earing an income and support their families.
