ANNUAL VISIT OF HOPE TEAM AT KASHMIR - DAY 1

Kashmir is a mountainous area comprising of various districts, located in the northern areas of Pakistan. This area is underdeveloped and in much need of proper health facilities. On the other hand, illiteracy is also prevalent here and if institutions exist, the harsh weather makes it impossible to reach there.

The mountainous region of Kashmir is definitely breath-taking but the people who live in these areas face a lot of hardships. Life is actually very tough in these areas. Half of the year it’s extremely cold there. Most of the villages on mountains have no electricity, no central heating system; children may develop pneumonia and other illnesses because of the cold weather.

This year, on day 1 of the visit, the team of HOPE - An NGO in Pakistan, visited the schools located in Dhanibaklan, Hatiyan Bala which in total enrolled about 125 students. Gifts packets consisting of pencil box, warm clothes, toys, Eid clothes, school bags were distributed among the children and hand bags for the teachers there.

Furthermore, the team distributed snacks consisting of biryani and juice boxes among the children which brought them great joy and happiness.

The chairperson of HOPE, Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla - A child specialist in Karachi, visits these schools every year along with other members from HOPE office to make sure the schools are functioning the way they are supposed to. On this visit, the teachers also put their concerns in front of her, if any, of which are addressed right away.

HOPE- An Educational NGO in Pakistan, feels proud while spreading hope and education even on the top of mountains where no other NGO or government organization is working to help the people in need.

RATION DONATION FOR THE NEEDY

With lack of financial stability, many families worry about from where their next meal will be coming from. Whilst many of us enjoy three meals a day, for many families in Pakistan, this is a mere dream. On average, over half of a family’s income is spent on food and 44% of children under the age of five are stunted due to malnutrition.

Many large bags of ration were handed over to HOPE - An NGO in Karachi, by a donor for distribution among the needy students of HOPE Zia School and the needy people residing in Zia Colony.

Serving a whole better purpose of charity and was a great help to the underprivileged people during this hard time, as job opportunities for daily wagers has come to a halt; and they do not have any resources or savings to sustain on during this pandemic.

By providing ration bags to these families, it will help keep their kitchens running for some time, until the corona pandemic situation restores to normal again.

The ration bags provided consisted of various items such as milk ghee, flour, cooking oil, sugar, pulses, rice, tea leaf, soap, detergent, salt, spices etc.which sums up to the basic needs required in any household. The children and people were very happy to receive the ration bags, it was a feeling of relief during this hard time when people are losing jobs due to the pandemic.

The team at HOPE – A Health NGO in Pakistan, distributed the ration bags among the neediest students and families of Zia Colony.  The children and people were delighted to receive the ration bags as they belong to low-income class who cannot even afford to buy basic grocery on regular basis. Seeing the innocent smiles on the faces of these children is extremely gratifying and it affirms our belief that all the efforts, the hassle, the obstacles are worth going through just to see a smile on the faces of these children who can’t afford the basic necessities of life.

Dr. MubinaAgboatwalla- A Child Specialist in Karachi, leads HOPE towards achieving greater horizons and drags people out of their misery and sufferings by carrying out such philanthropic activities.
