The
primary focus of HOPE – A Health NGO in Pakistan
is providing accessible healthcare services to communities in remote and
underserved areas of Pakistan, where healthcare facilities are limited,
inadequate, or difficult to access. The lack of basic healthcare services in
these regions contributes significantly to high maternal and child mortality
rates. HOPE works to address these challenges in both rural communities and
urban slums, with particular emphasis on the healthcare needs of
underprivileged mothers and children.
In
Karachi, HOPE has established secondary-care hospitals in Korangi and
Gurumandir. In addition, HOPE operates hospitals in Thatta and Sujawal,
extending healthcare services to communities outside the major urban centers.
To
further strengthen maternal and child healthcare services, HOPE has recently
established three new Maternal and Child Health Care (MCH) Centers. One center
is located at Basti Shakirwali, Mozah Jesalwain, Jhang Road, Muzaffargarh,
Punjab; another is located in Murad Abad, Kashmir; and the third has been
established in Baidrah, Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Building
on the successful operation of its MCH Centers in Karachi, including those in
Manzoor Colony, Mujahid Colony, Bilal Colony, Qayyumabad, and 100 Quarter
Korangi, HOPE has expanded its maternal and child healthcare operations beyond
Karachi into Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. This
expansion aims to address the significant healthcare needs of communities where
existing medical infrastructure remains insufficient to meet the needs of the
population.
HOPE – An NGO in Pakistan also operates two Mobile Health Units (MHUs) in partnership
with Asia Petroleum Limited (APL). These mobile units provide healthcare
services to more than 20 villages and underserved communities, ranging from the
slum areas of Karachi and Pipri to villages in Hub, Balochistan. These
communities often have limited or no access to essential medical services. The
Mobile Health Units provide medical consultations, appropriate treatment, and
medicines free of cost.
HOPE’s
hospitals and MCH Centers are equipped with essential medical facilities and
supplies, including medicines, oxygen, nebulizers, ultrasound machines,
delivery rooms, and equipment required for emergency procedures. The MCH
Centers are staffed by qualified healthcare personnel, including a Lady Health
Visitor (LHV), doctor, dispenser, and cleaner.
The
health conditions commonly treated at these facilities include flu, colds,
coughs, skin infections, diarrhea, maternity-related conditions, and
gynecological problems. For many people living in rural and underserved areas,
the absence of accessible primary healthcare can allow otherwise manageable
conditions to develop into serious complications.
Recognizing
these challenges, Dr. Mubina
Agboatwalla A Child Specialist in Karachi and founder of HOPE,
continues to focus on expanding Maternal and Child Health Care Centers across
Pakistan. Through these initiatives, HOPE aims to bring essential healthcare
services closer to communities in need, where patients can receive treatment and
medicines either free of cost or at minimal charges.
Every
month, thousands of patients benefit from the healthcare services provided
through HOPE’s hospitals, MCH Centers, and Mobile Health Units. Through its
continued expansion, HOPE remains committed to improving access to quality
healthcare for vulnerable communities throughout Pakistan.
