INAUGURATION OF HOPE MOTHER & CHILD HEALTHCARE CLINIC IN KORANGI

Four years ago, HOPE-A Health NGO in Pakistan established a Mother and Child Health Center in Bilal Colony. The MCH Centre in Bilal Colony is fully supported by the Subzwari Family and is a prototype of a family-run philanthropic venture.

Recently HOPE has been able to open another mother and child health clinic in Korangi number 5, with the help of the funds donated by Farhana Mowjeee. Korangi is one of the most densely populated and polluted residential area of Karachi. It is home to Pakhtun, Punjabi, Sindhi, Baloch and Urdu-speaking ethnicities, as well as Christians and Hindus.

HOPE Clinic at Korangi is another maternal and child healthcare (MCH) center where free of cost medical services are provided to the needy and poor. The population of Korangi consists of low-income class. This is a free of cost Basic Health Unit. Maternal services such as Antenatal Care, Nutrition Support and Ultra Sound are provided. It is operated by a qualified doctor rather than a LHV.

The Koranigi MCH is well equipped with basic healthcare facilities. Beautiful floral arrangements add more life to the overlook of clinic. Before inauguration HOPE team members from all branches gathered to recite Quran for the good start of the center. Dr. MubinaAgboatwalla- A Child Specialist in Karachi expressed her gratitude to Farhana Mowoejee for her philanthropic spirit to help HOPE develop more opportunities towards the socially deprived.  Delicious snacks and hot tea were served to the guests on the cold winter day.

Mostly women and children come to sought treatment for common diseases such as respiratory infection, skin diseases, typhoid, diarrhea, constipation, hypertension, high grade fever flu, urinary tract infections and pregnant women were given medicines as well as their antenatal checkups are done

HOPE-A Health NGO in Pakistan aims to overcome the challenges of seeking primary health care services in slums of Karachi, where about 60% of the population lives in various informal settlements. In addition, the conditions of slum dwellers and health challenges of the population, such as low immunization and low vaccinations, among others, are also to be eliminated. It is important to emphasize on the inclusion of these people in national health plans and to develop health infrastructure near these communities. Furthermore, there is a strong need to increase awareness of the population about hygiene practices, importance of immunization, and importance of utilizing appropriate health care services.
