Proper toilet
and sanitation are crucial for public health, preventing the spread of
diseases, and improving overall well-being, as they ensure safe disposal of
waste and promote hygiene.
Last week the
team member of HOPE – A Health NGO in
Pakistan visited its toilets, constructed at Ghaghar Kalmati,
Ghulam Faqeer Goth, Link Road and Karim
Baksh Goth, Link Road. The purpose of the visit was to check the condition and
functionality of these bathrooms. Because along with the construction of new
toilets, their maintenance and cleanliness are also important, since these
toilets facilitate 100s of families in these villages as well as the
neighbouring villages.
Villagers
claim these toilets have solved many problems. Alongside these there are also
many handpumps installed by HOPE – An NGO in
Pakistan, where villagers are provided with clean, pure water. These
toilets are constructed on a 5x5 sq foot.
Furthermore,
HOPE promoted the importance of personal hygiene and proper disposal of waste, in
order to avoid diseases and other health issues.
Maintaining
community cleanliness along with access to safe water and effective waste
disposal saves lives. In addition to safeguarding young children, community and
environmental sanitation lowers the incidence of illness for all. Healthy
families are more productive. Children can attend school more often instead of
needing time to recover from sickness.
Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla – A Child
Specialist in Karachi, does her level best to ensure that
every community impacted by HOPE has access to toilets and handpumps. This
enables residents to easily obtain clean drinking water and proper sanitation.
