HANDPUMPS INSTALLED IN COLLABORATION WITH BANK AL BARAKA

Water is one of the fundamental elements responsible for life on earth; yet it remains out of reach of billions around the globe. It affects every continent and more than 1.2 billion people lack access to clean drinking water. While considering the province of Sindh in Pakistan, besides being one of the disadvantaged communities when it comes to literacy and morbidity rate in addition, it happens to be one of the places where water is chronically short besides being dirty and contaminated. Women of these remote areas travel 5-6 km far from their village to fetch water. However, water wells are set-up 250 ft deep from which both animals and humans drink water.

HOPE- an NGO in Pakistan has been helping the needy to obtain clean drinking water under the leadership of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla- child specialist in Karachi. Recently HOPE joined hands with Al Baraka Ltd who donated funds for the installation of 10 handpumps.

Al Baraka Limited came into being as a result of the first merger in the Islamic Banking sector of Pakistan. They have been more than generous in helping HOPE- a health NGO in Pakistan cater to the poor and needy population in far off barren lands.

Handpumps in the following regions have already been completed:

    1)     Tando Adam khan

    2)     Sanghar

    3)     Nawabshah

    4)     Muzaffargarh

While some of the handpumps in the following regions are still under process and in the pipeline:

    5)     Badin

    6)     Swat 

    7)     Muzaffarabad

By the end of this month HOPE expects to have at least 7 out of 10 handpumps constructed and functioning.

Handpumps in Sahiwal, Sadqabad and KPT are yet to be finalized. HOPE gains greater dedication and motivation as we witness the change each hand pump has brings in the lives of so many people in these rural areas.

AGILITY SUPPORTS HOPE SCHOOL – Zia Colony.

HOPE- an NGO in Pakistan has so far had an incredible journey. It has grown from a band of street volunteers to a huge national network of schools, hospitals and vocational centers and during the journey, HOPE- a health NGO in Pakistan has continuously been getting support from all sectors and all ages of people. One of its supporters who recently joint hands with HOPE to organize its first distribution was AGILITY.

Agility is a publicly traded global logistics company headquartered in Kuwait, providing freight forwarding, transportation, and warehousing and supply chain management services to businesses, governments, international institutions and relief agencies worldwide.

Agility’s TRISTAR recently arranged a lunch distribution activity in HOPE’s Zia Colony School which is one of HOPE’s most successfully runned institute.

The students of HOPE School Zia Colony studying in the morning shift were thrilled to welcome Agility’s representatives. They also held quizzes and competitions resulting in the distribution of goody bags which brought a rise in the emotions and excitement of the students.

Agility, the organization was kind enough to generously donate money for School expenses and instructed that the funds be utilized in whatever way possible.

All in all the whole experience was delightful and an action packed one. The teachers of HOPE school- Zia colony, paid close attention to the activities and ensured that all students are benefitting and participating in the activity. At the end, a group photo was taken to captivate the moment so that Agility lasts forever in HOPE’s supporters.

THATTA’s MEDICAL CAMP

HOPE- an NGO in Pakistan is a very old established NGO functioning successfully since 1970. Working to improve the medical and educational system in Sindh, Punjab and KPK.

Providing world class health care facility is an obligation on HOPE. Having said that, it has three main secondary hospitals, two of which are in Karachi and one in Thatta. A number of medical and surgical facilities and services are provide some of which are as follows: Labor rooms, Maternity services, X-Ray, Blood Bank, Laboratory, Gynecologist Surgeries etc.

Thatta has a very successful HOPE School and a Hospital which has been functioning since 2006. HOPE’s Thatta Hospital has become an important landmark in the city’s landscape as a provider of much-needed health care so not just for the residents of Thatta but also for the surrounding regions.  Specifically in the maternity, mother and child care sector. The need for qualified personnel, space and equipment is always on the increase.

Recently HOPE set up a medical Camp in Thatta where men, women and children but mostly women and children came to sought treatment for common diseases such as Respiratory infection, Skin diseases, Typhoid and Malaria.

The doctors present at the scene were: Dr. Abida Shaikh- Gynecologist, Dr. Abdul Waheed Shaikh- ENT specialist, Dr. Adeel Memon- Family physician.

A total of 650+ patients were treated and prescribed medication. Tariq Laboratory was also present where they carried put free tests for HCV, CBC, BG and RBC.

An HQ pharmacist also conducted free calcium tests. The HCV test as well as Malaria tests were carried out under the supervision of Dr. Naseema and Dr. Arshad.

All in all HOPE- a health NGO in Pakistan conducted a very successful medical camp with patients returning back to their homes satisfied and content.

Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla- a child specialist in Karachi , has always focused in providing   better and increased health  facilities to the rural, poor people especially those of  Thatta and adjoining areas.

HIGH SCHOOL RESULTS OF HOPE SECONDARY SCHOOL (ZIA COLONY)

HOPE – an NGO in Pakistan, working for the betterment of the people, rather than obliterating the poor, helping them in terms of health and education so that the down trodden population may stand up independently on their own feet.

The HOPE Formal School Network in Karachi, provides quality education up to Matric in well-established buildings in a neat, clean atmosphere. Qualified teachers teach students from poor communities whose fathers are either laborers, transporters, farmers, or jobless, and many are orphans. These are the children who are unable to go to school and are either working as laborers in factories or in the fields, or are loitering in the streets. Uniforms, stationary and school bags are provided free of cost.

HOPE’s Zia Colony formal school is one of HOPE’s most successful Schools and like any other curriculum, students of HOPE gave their high school examination and passed with flying colors.

With result time round the corner, all students are going through a stressful time trying to estimate what their result might be and whether or not their hard work paid off. But all is well that ends well. With a total of 3 A’s, 9 B’s and 4 C’s HOPE’s students surpassed the teacher’s expectations and proved to all how well they have been taught.

HOPE Zia Colony’s teachers namely Ms. Aisha and Ms. Ghazi worked extremely hard day in and day out in order to transfer utmost knowledge to the students.

Under the supervision of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla- a child specialist in Karachi, HOPE Zia Colony has now advanced into greater possibilities and methodologies of teaching students more effectively so that in future they may earn a living for themselves with the high quality education they received.

HOPE-an Educational NGO in Pakistan, strives to eradicate illiteracy in Pakistan. HOPE diligently tries to provide education to all, especially the underprivileged masses. Thus most of HOPE’s programs are focused primarily on the rural and urban slum areas of Pakistan. HOPE extensively works to provide quality education, free of cost to the underprivileged.

HOPE’s Qurbani Activity 2018

The aim of sacrifice, like all other fundamentals of Islam, is to imbibe piety and self righteousness. It also promotes the spirit of sacrifice for a right cause. HOPE- an NGO in Pakistan is striving hard to reach out to the poor and less fortunate this Eid.

There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Eid al-Adha than the sacrificing of animals. Sacrifice, as practised by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) is an essential religious ritual of the Muslims – replicating and commemorating the sacrifice performed by Prophet Ibraham in its truest spirit and essence. God put Prophet Ibrahim to a most difficult trial, the details of which are described in the Quran.

Qurbani meat is divided into three parts; one for the family, the other for the neighbor and the third portion for the poor. And so Muslims fulfill their obligation and distribute some meat of goats, cows, sheep and camels to the underprivileged.

HOPE- a Health NGO in Pakistan, was actively involved in the distribution of sacrificed animals among the deserving families this Eid-ul-Azha. HOPE carried out its annual Qurbani on all three days of Eid and sacrificed a total of 18 Cows which was distributed benefitting a total of 3800 families whilst 17 Goats were sacrificed and meat was distributed to 600 families.

HOPE under the supervision of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla- a child specialist in Karachi, distributed meat in every nook and corner of Pakistan so that no one if left hungry and unhappy this Eid. Areas included: Rehri Goat, Bhens Colony, Ghaggar, Gadap, Mujahid Colony, Bhittaiabad, Sachal, Bilal Colony, Zia Colony, Muzaffargarh, Sujawal, Badin, Thatta and Gurumandir, Karachi.

HOPE USA chapter, Human Concern International (HCI) and many individual donors contributed for the share in cows and for goats.

With the spirit of Charity, HOPE was able to put a smile to those underserved population who otherwise starve themselves to sleep every night. HOPE has always been a forerunner in carrying out those activities which benefit humanity in any way possible. 

QURBANI APPEAL 2018

Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid-ul-Azha in the month of Zil Hajj, commemorating the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (PBUH). In this regard, some of the companions asked the Prophet (PBUH) regarding the significance of this sacrifice, the Prophet (PBUH) is reported to have replied: “It is the Sunnah of your father, Abraham (PBUH)”. Therefore HOPE-an NGO in Pakistan, under the leadership if Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla- a child specialist in Karachi, strives hard to collect funds and carry out this holy activity at different locations of HOPE including its schools and hospitals.

HOPE has an extensive network of hospitals and schools in Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Muzaffargarh, Muzaffarabad, Badin, (AJK) in which extremely poor families reside. These families wait all year round for HOPE's generous distribution of meat and that is what makes their Eid a time to rejoice.

HOPE does not let any part of the Qurbani Animal go waste and hence collects all the skin of the animal and encourages other donors to donate the animal’s skin if it is going in the garbage. This Eid help HOPE put a smile on every child’s face.
