Health is a basic human right. In Pakistan, the indicators show a dismal picture with high infant and maternal mortality rates. Women an and children don’t have access to health care.
In this context, HOPE- a Health NGO in Pakistan has set up
various maternal and child health centres (MCH) Centres all over Pakistan in
rural and urban slums. Bilal Colony, a poor urban slum in Karachi has a
population of 80,000 and lacks basic infra structure.
A MCH had already been functioning in the area but now under
the guidance of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla- child
Specialist in Karachi decided to expand the services.
The MCH Centre in Bilal Colony has been relocated and
shifted to a more spacious location. Nearly, 25000 patients are seen monthly which includes
women and children. This includes consultation as well as free medicines. Many
patients are given intravenous fluids. Minor ailments like respiratory
infections, gastroenteritis, skin infections, typhoid, malaria are treated.
Antenatal care for women is done.
Ultrasound services are also provided. HOPE-NGO In Pakistan
ensures provision of quality health care to all –women, children and adults
irrespective of caste and creed.
